Training and Placement

Campus placement: 2021-2022
14 students of 4-year integrated B.Sc.B.Ed./B.A.B.Ed. were placed in many reputed schools in and around Thanjavur. The salary package ranged from 14,000/- to 26,000/- per month inclusive of free food, boarding and transportation.

Report on TET crash course: 2022-2023

Department of Education conducted a one week TNTET Crash course 9.5.2022 to 13.5.2022. Faculty from SASHE, SCBT, and SEEE were engaged as resource persons for conducting the programme.

Field Visit: 2022-2023

On May 28th, Field trip was organized for I, II, III year BSc.B.Ed /B.A.B.Ed students. They were taken to ‘Thanjavur Big Temple’. Students found it a great opportunity to explore Chola Art and Architecture.

Dhara Event

SASTRA Deemed to be university conducted 2 days National Conference “Dhara- Sangeetha &NatyaParampara (Panel/Round Table). Faculty and Students from integrated B.A.B.Ed./B.Sc.B.Ed participated in both the conference and cultural event.

Gram Seva

Students of I Year integrated B.Sc.B.Ed/B.A.B.Ed were taken for school outreach activity, as a part of their Grama Seva programme on 06/12/2022 to government middle school, Thirumalaisamudram. Student teachers performed mime show, skit, and group song on important topics like communicable diseases, health and sanitation, personal and public hygiene, etc. The school students attended all the events with great enthusiasm and participated actively in all brainstorming sessions by student teachers. They were motivated and encouraged by student teachers who gave them small gifts.

Citizenship Training programme

Students if final year integrated B.Sc.B.Ed/B.A.B.Ed performed various programmes like dance drama, skit, villupattu, solo dance to create awareness on various environmental issues. The programme was conducted on 21.12.2022 during the morning assembly. Students prepared placards to spread the message of environmental awareness. Students of final year as part of citizenship training programme extended their service and cleaned the temple premises of Budalur temple on 20th December 2022.

Educational visit to Special School

As a part of EDU233R01, Educational Visit was arranged to special school visit to Dolours’ School for the hearing impaired, Ponmalaipatti, Trichy on 28/11/2022, Monday for all final year students. Student teachers got some orientation about various challenges involved in teaching/learning process with special reference to students with hearing impairment. The students were guided to record the learning implications in ‘Innovative School Record’ in prescribed format for evaluation.

National Human Rights Conference

NHRC and Department of Education (SASHE) organized a one-day collaborative training programme on Rights of Child for Teacher Trainees on 23rd December, 2022, atNirmanVihar Auditorium, SASTRA University. The Convener of the programme was Dr.Usha Ajithkumar, Professor & Head, Department of Education (SASHE). Dr.K. UmaMaheswari, Dean, SASHE was the Chief guest and she inaugurated the programme, The First session was addressed by Dr.Sanjith S, Sr.Asst.Professor; School of Law.He spoke on the topic ‘Introduction to Human rights. Session two was handled by Dr.Usha Ajithkumar,. Her topic was Rights of Child (UN Convention). The third session was taken up by Dr.Madhavan. R, Sr.Asst.Professor, School of Law on the topic Rights of Child (RTE 2009 & Child labour issues). . The last session was on the topic Rights of Child (Juvenile Justice and POCSO Act, was conducted by Smt.S.Sangeetha, School of Law.

Indo-Canadian Conference

The Indo-Canadian workshop was conducted on 24th February. All students of Department of Education, SASHE participated in the conference.

Internships (School Lab)

Four year integrated B.Sc.B.Ed / B.A.B.Ed have three phases of School Internship. Phase I is the observation period of 4 weeks, where students of III semester get the opportunity to observe the class of expert teachers, school heads and other administrative departments. This helps them to get direct experience. Phase II is the Teaching Practice (Session I) for 4 weeks where student teacher horne and sharpen their teaching skills in real classroom situation. Similarly, Phase-III teaching Practice Session-II is for 12 weeks, where fourth year students attend the lab schools, mostly near their home town and get complete experience of classroom teaching, other academic and administrative works in schools. All students successfully completed their School Internship Programme.

Club Activities

Students of Prakashika Club participated in various activities, conducted by subject clubs like Amudha mozhi sangam (Tamil Club), Calculus Crown (Maths Club), Super Nova (Science Club), Literature Hut (English Club) Inter Subjective (Social Science Club) and Frolic Mania (Sports Club). Students participated in all club activities. They were given certificates for their outstanding performance. These activities are conducted on Saturdays. To highlight some of the club activities Bharathiar Day celebration by Tamil Club, Srinivasa Ramanujam Day by Maths Club, Quiz and Extempore by English Club, Dumb Charade by Science club etc

SASTRA Pedagogy Day

SASTRA Pedagogy day, the Inter-Collegiate Competition for Teacher-Trainees across B.Ed. colleges of Tamil Nadu was conducted on 22.4.2023 in (VidhyaVihar). The entire campus of School of Education was thematically decorated with artistic touch and pedagogical ambiance a day before the event. The Co-coordinator of the event was Dr.UshaAjithKumar, Prof &Head,DoE, SASHE, Co-coordinators were Dr.S.Brindha and Smt.S.Sujatha. The organizing Secretary was Dr.N.Navaneethakrishnan. The Chief Guest for inaugural programme was Dr.S.Pugazhenthi, Dean, School of Mechanical Engineering. The welcome address and key highlights of the programme was presented by Dr.UshaAjith Kumar, Prof&Head, Department of Education.

The Innovative pedagogy competition commenced from 10.30 a.m onwards. Three judges from SASTRA and 5 judges from schools adjudged the competition with the help of well-designed judgment criterion including rubrics, the Competitions were organized in VDV.106, 107 and 108. 31 Teacher Trainees from various colleges participated in the event. The cash prize (I Prize 2000/- II Prize 1000/- and III prize 500/-) were given to the winners of the competition in English, Mathematics and Science innovative pedagogy during the Valedictory function.

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8/3/2023 at TIFFACORE auditorium where the students presented mime, role play on the topic women issues and women achievers.

Educational Movie

On 6thMay, the Oscar Winning documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ was screened for students of 1,2 and 3 year integrated programme in the Seminar Hall.

The Cultural Expo

Students of 1st year integrated programme presented a ‘Cultural Expo’ on the theme ‘National Integration’ as a part of our curriculum EDU221; It was conducted on 13.5.2023 in TIFFACORE Auditorium.

Teachers’ Day Celebration – September 2022

The Department of Education organised Teachers’ Day Celebration on 5 th September, 2022 with the participation of student teachers. A mesmerising dance performance was put up by Ms. V. Jayasudha 3 rd B.A. B.Ed.(English), Ms. P. Sarunya 3 rd B.Sc. B.Ed.(Physics) and Ms. G. Gunna Nanthini 3rd B.Sc.B.Ed. (Mathematics), which was followed by a mono acting performance by Ms. T. Deepika Valavan 3 rd B.Sc.B.Ed ( Mathematics).A few students gave a speech on role of teachers in the life of students.

International Yoga Day Celebration – June 2022

On the eighth edition of International Yoga Day, the Department of Education celebrated Yoga Day on June 21, 2022 at 8.45 AM. One of the eight stages of yoga, ‘Pranayama’, was thoroughly introduced by the resource person, Dr. Ramaya Devi, Assistant Professor from SCBT, SASTRA University.
